Spices - which are the most popular in Poland?
In our country, the most popular spices are those that go well with dishes of traditional Polish cuisine - these include spices such as:
- bay leaf
- caraway
- marjoram
- pepper
- parsley
- dill
- allspice
When it comes to spices for sweet dishes - cinnamon, vanilla are the most well-known, but aniseed and cardamom are also often used.
The popularity of spices - what is the reason for this?
The popularity of spices in a country may result not only from a particular geographical area, but also from the popularity of a particular type of cuisine. In Poland, Italian, Asian or Mexican cuisine is still very popular - which means that naturally some of us are keen on the spices associated with these types of cuisine. More and more lovers of new tastes are also opening up to the choice of such spices which arouse much controversy - for example, those which are very spicy (e.g. habanero chilli) or intensely warming (e.g. ginger).
